Sahm Nap Session

Good morning and welcome to another moment with Shona! How have you been? I have had quite a week! It’s like non-stop appointments and I am so needing a VACATION! Due to technical difficulties, I wasn’t able to post on my blog on Thursday. Prayerfully it won’t happen again and the issue is completely gone!

Yesterday, I felt like I just couldn’t complete anything around the house because I have been on the go! Appointments left and right! I didn’t even tell you that I have been experiencing horrible mouth pain due to the fact that my wisdom tooth is growing wrong! So I have been dealing with not only that, but preparing for surgery because my tooth is too deep for the Dentist to pull out while I’m awake! Now, I had 2 out of 4 kids naturally, but for some reason, I just can’t do tooth pain! It is the absolute worst for me and to be honest, I’m TERRIFIED!!

Because of the mouth pain, I haven’t been able to rest peacefully. I would lay in the bed and just cry. And Tuesday night was the worst combination of tears for me, no worries, I’ll explain. Due to sleepless nights, my body was drained. But I had to really suck it up Tuesday night because my baby girl Lovèah Rose was turning the BIG TWO on Wednesday!! What I normally do is wait until all of the kids go to bed to decorate the house with steamers, table coverings, balloons, gifts etc. I wasn’t going to lay anything out Tuesday because all I was thinking about was my bed! But, all of that changed when my 6 year old Rèinah said, “I can’t wait to wake up and see all of Lovèah’s birthday decorations!”… so you already know what I had to do. I put on my big girl pants and stayed up until the wee hours of the morning setting up for my little one. Hey, that’s what mamas do right?

Yesterday, I had an appointment for myself to check out my wrist, but I had to change the time because I forgot that I couldn’t bring kids to an MRI appointment! What was I thinking?!

Since I didn’t have my appointment at 10:30 that morning, I took Lovèah to the park for some fun! Then I got back home and nursed her, then I just crashed on the couch! I woke up to her counting and playing with her new birthday toys. Lol!! I had to change the time of my appointment to 7:30 that night since my husband got home at 6:00. That was also be my quiet time so I can just hear myself think! Once I got home, I had to tackle my major laundry overload & straighten up my house! It’s crazy!!

All of that to say, if you’re a stay at home mom, it is perfectly fine to take your mommy naps! We have so much on our plate during the day and we don’t get paid for it! Being a sahm is hard work! Another thing, don’t let anyone tell you that being a stay at home mom is easy because all we do is sit around all day. Please!! That is ludocris!! Our home would pretty much be a wreck without us! We are the ones who our kids run to to kiss boo-boo’s! We are the ones who do our daughter’s hair exactly how she likes it. We are the ones who stay up watching over our kids while they sleep. We are the ones who go behind our kids and touch toothbrushes and washcloths to see if they are wet in the morning. We are the ones who stay up with our sick kiddos snuggling them until they fall asleep. We are that cool “taxi” mom who takes all four of our kids to a doctor’s appointments when we’re the one being seen, then turn around and take our kids to baseball or soccer practice immediately afterwards. We do a lot mamas! Breaks are a MUST! So if you feel like you are needing some shuteye, just go for it because you my friend, deserve it!!

Until next time, “laugh hard, love harder, capture each moment & sprinkle a little joy in someone else’s life.” – XO Shona~
