Tasty Tuesday | Chocolate Acorns

Hey, hey, hey happy Tuesday! I have some tasty treats to share with you tonight! These are perfect for Christmas. My girls helped me prepare these yummy treats on Thanksgiving day. I can’t take all the credit because I found the idea on Pinterest.

So right after my sister and I finished up some Thanksgiving cooking, and we ate, I told my daughters that I wanted to start on our first dessert.

We made chocolate acorns! It was pretty fun. Now, it’s not the healthiest thing to eat, but it’s totally fine for a cheat day. I highly recommend making these with your child.

Ingredients:

1 box of Vanilla wafers

1 12 Oz bag of Nestle real semi-sweet morsel mini chocolate chips

1 12 Oz bag of milk chocolate Hershey’s kisses

Other:

Cookie sheet

Parchment paper

Microwave safe bowl

1/2 Cup measuring spoon

1 Ziplock bag

Instructions:

We started off with 25 of each ingredient because we only had nine people in my house for Thanksgiving. So my daughters took turns counting out our ingredients and placed them on our baking sheet covered with parchment paper.

In a microwave safe bowl, we measured 1/2 cup of mini chocolate chips and put it in the microwave for 45 seconds. I stirred it with a spatula until it was smooth. Then my girls held the ziplock bag open while I poured the melted chocolate inside. I snipped the end of the ziplock bag & my daughters handed me the vanilla wafers. I squeezed some of the melted chocolate on the flat side of the wafer and my girls took turns putting Hersey’s kiss on. The melted chocolate is pretty much used like glue to hold the kiss to the cookie.

You have to move pretty fast during this process or your chocolate will cool down and it won’t be sticky.

Next, we completed the same process on the opposite side of the wafers, but added the mini chocolate chips. All you need is a drop of melted chocolate for this part.

Ok, now that that is done, you can place your chocolate acorns in the FREEZER for 10 minutes to set.

Ding* Times up! You know what that means? Time to eat your treats! Let me know how you liked these chocolate acorns. My family loved them!

Remember, if you don’t know what special snacks to make for the Holidays, you can always pull up Pinterest! A lot of people I know say they don’t know how to use it, but it’s not difficult at all peeps. And you can always look it up on YouTube too! Win, win.

Harold Jr. (tallest) & Bryan (being silly) are seen testing out the acorns.
